With summer here, vacation time has started. Although you’re on a vacation, it is important that you don’t take a break on your daily oral care. While you are on vacation make sure to spend time each day on your brushing and flossing.

Our dentist, Dr. Peter D Kim, wants you to have a great vacation, but also wants you to keep your mouth healthy while on vacation. That’s why our team at Truxtun Family Dentistry in Bakersfield, California, wants to help you prepare for your break this summer.

When packing for your vacation, make sure to pack your floss, toothbrush and toothpaste. Your toothbrush is best stored when you’re at home and can let it dry vertically without touching any surface. However, on vacation this might not always be possible. If you are unable to store it in an ideal condition, store your toothbrush in a plastic bag, or bristle cover. By protecting your brush bristles by coming in contact with other things in your bag you are helping it stay bacteria free.

If you do take an oral vacation as well and stop bushing and flossing, don’t beat yourself up. Start your daily routine of brushing twice a day for two minutes, and flossing once a day, as soon as you can.
